V is for vigilance

It's here! The long-promised pattern for our "vulva cable" toque. We'd already been playing with, um, yonic motifs before the results of the presidential election presented an increased threat to the safety and health of vagina-having Americans. (Because we do things like that.) But in the aftermath of November, we felt a particular urgency to celebrate this oft-denigrated body part in a knitty manner.

We made our original "V is for Vigilance" hats in some peachy-pink Road to China worsted we had lying about, but unfortunately this yarn is discontinued. When requests came in for a pattern, we selected Juniper Moon Farm's "Moonshine" (40% alpaca/40% wool/20%silk) as a suitably luxurious suggested alternative, but this hat can be worked in any worsted weight yarn. The hat is a traditionally constructed cable knit toque designed to gracefully showcase the central cable pattern, topping it off with a celebratory pom pom. It's worked in-the-round from the bottom up, tapering to the top to hug that most precious body part: your head.

Pattern pdf available for $6.50 US on Ravelry and our website. (Kits available soon!) All proceeds from the pattern will go to aid Planned Parenthood of America in their efforts to provide affordable reproductive healthcare for all.

  1. Hi there,
I knit a couple of these last year and it was a very enjoyable knit. Thank you for a beautiful pattern.
A friend wanted to knit one and when I went to send her the link I noticed the design is no longer available in digital format.
I was just wondering if it's available in any format?
    Cheers,
    Ari
